ENDLESS CITY, 2021

In ENDLESS CITY, Karel Burssens continues his radical pictorial concept. He portrays the 21st century as the age of a globalized, capitalistic society. With his seductive installations he investigates the complex relationships that unite the collective and the individual, or the inner and outside worlds. Central is the question: how do we deal with the current use and exploitation of our surroundings?

The patinated brass sculptures are drawn upon industrial constructions, a non-architecture designed for function without a formal or spatial experience in mind. A grid structure, a custom text by Piero Bisello, a composition by Wiet Lengeler, a light installation, found objects and dust complete the installation.

ENDLESS CITY is his second solo exhibition and was on view at Kribbestraat 3, Brussels, a space by Goedele Bartholomeeusen & Evelyne Van Haverbeke.
